Tour Hell Ville

accueil / Tour Hell Ville

It is the largest city and capital of the island of Nosy Be with more than 30,000 inhabitants. In 1839, French naval captain Pierre Passot landed at Nosy Be. There was a town that was named Hellville in honor of the governor, Admiral Anne Chrétien Louis de Hell, governor of Reunion Island who commissioned a military port in Madagascar. Hellville is the beating heart of the island and all administrative and commercial services are concentrated. In fact, the town hall, the banks, the hospital and the Bazaar Be, the big covered market of Hellville, were gathered. On the main street we find buildings in the typical French colonial style and a large number of craft shops.
